Degree Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree
To earn a baccalaureate degree a student must:
- Earn a minimum of 120 semester credits. Thirty of the last forty credits must be completed at Loras College or as part of an approved institutional partnership/articulation agreement such as a dual degree or accelerated degree program.
- Complete all of the Loras College General Education requirements
- Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.000
- Complete all requirements for at least one major, including the stated minimum major grade point average
The (FEV) General Education Required Courses
The Loras College General Education Program requires students complete the following:
- All course requirements of the Foundations, Explorations, & Vocations General Education Curriculum
- A minimum of two (2) May term courses
Foundations Courses (12-13 credits)
Students must complete one course in each category.

Explorations Courses (12-14 credits)
Students must complete a minimum of four Explorations courses and must take at least one course from each category. Explorations courses may count toward the fulfillment of major requirements, however, a maximum of one Explorations course may double count to fulfill the requirements of a major and the general education program. Students with a double (or triple) major may double count one Explorations course in each major.

Students must complete one IN designated course as part of the completion of a major.
May Term
All students must complete a minimum of two courses offered during the May term, or receive a waiver based on the amount of transfer credit. All first-year students are required to enroll in a May term course during their first May. These courses are designed to incorporate strong experiential learning elements.
