L.HIS 279 - Gandhi the Interfaith Peace-Builder-VX Credits: 3
Mahatma Gandhi was the most famous advocate of nonviolence in the 20th century. He built his ethical system out of deep consideration of Hindu and Christian teachings and used this to challenge the greatest empire the world has ever seen. This course will look at Gandhi’s story in its contexts, focusing on his ethical system and his interfaith peacebuilding work. It will compare Gandhi’s ethics to other ethical systems such as Catholic Social Teaching and Utilitarianism.
