L.BIO 548 - Advanced Immunology


Credits: 3

This course will provide an in-depth study of the mechanisms of human immune system function and an introduction to how to study it. The topics will include:  immune cell functions, antibody production and function, immune response to infectious diseases (AIDS, COVID, others), allergies, and vaccine and transplant biology.  Defects of the immune system leading to autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiencies will also be discussed. Graduate students will learn about experimental design and techniques researchers are using for cutting edge discoveries about the immune system function in health and disease.  Fall Semesters

Co-requisite: None

Restrictions: Cannot previously have received credit for Loras BIO-348
