L.LIB 235 - Jewish and Christian Dialogue Credits: 3
Judaism and Catholicism have been described as sibling religions, exemplifying the joys and rivalries that come with such a relationship over the last two thousand years. In the wake of Vatican II, the Catholic Church has called its members to form new and positive relationships with Jews: to understand Judaism in its own terms and to even learn from Jewish beliefs and practices. This course takes up this call. Through exploration and comparison of Jewish and Catholic master stories, major practices, and shared history, students will deepen their understanding of sacramentality, mediation, and communion, and will further their developing sense of their vocation. Prerequisite: Engaging Communities (FC) and Written Communication (WC) Co-requisite: None General Education Classification: Catholic Traditions-CT
