L.CHE 102 - The Science of Paintings

This course will explore some of the basic principles of science and apply of those principles to understand the physical and chemicalnature of paints, pigments, and dyes. In the technological realm, scientists and artists both explore ways to manipulate matter to achieve desired ends. Both generate and analyze solutions to problems using creativity and imagination. We will explore the creation process by using science to create our own artistic materials. Includes a trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. Course fee applies.
