L.LIB 235 - Sacrifice & Society-CT

This course explores the connections between the religious and the secular through the concept of sacrifice.  We will examine the role of sacrifice in the Catholic principles of sacramentality, mediation, and communion, as well as its role in modern nationalism and the secular narrative of progress.  In doing so, we will shed light on the significant overlaps-and contrasts-between religious worldviews and narratives of modern secular politics.
Prerequisite: Engaging Communities (FC)  and Written Communication (WC)  
Co-requisite: None
