L.CHE 420 - Instrumental Analysis Credits: 3
An advanced course in analytical chemistry focused on how analytical instrumentation functions. Students will learn about different components of instrumentation, how those components work, and understand the advantages and disadvantages of the coupling of different components into the larger instrumental schematic. Additionally, students will investigate how different analytical chemistry techniques in the areas of electrochemistry, spectrophotometry, and chromatography compare to one another, study their advantages and disadvantages, and how various techniques may be best suited to answer particular research questions. Offered as needed in the spring semester. Prerequisite: L.CHE 320 Co-requisite: None General Education Classification: Not Applicable
