L.EDU 261 - Early Childhood Language & Literacy Credits: 3
A study of language and literacy development in early childhood. Topics include knowledge of language development; emergent literacy; the alphabetic principle; phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension; the principles of structured literacy. Students will spend time in early childhood classrooms providing supplemental language and literacy instruction. Prerequisite: L.EDU 200 ; L.EDU 205 ; Not open to First-Year Students; Declared endorsement in Reading K-8; Admission to Teacher Education Co-requisite: None General Education Classification: Not Applicable
